Mission & Vision of a Foundation

Every foundation is built on a particular vision. The group of people that come together unite on one aspect and that is a goal to accomplish. Where an individual stops functioning, a group of individuals join hands to lend support for the cause of the society, through finding charitable organizations or directly engaging in charitable activities. They mostly intend to reach out to the marginalized sections of societies, which include impoverished children and girl child, who are devoid of proper education, old parents who don’t have proper accommodation, women who lack basic rights, drug addicts, orphans, rural empowerment, community development etc. With the impulse of serving society in general and individuals in particular, a foundation established by an individual or a group work of advancement. The first task a founder of a foundation does is identify the underlying problem in the society and the probable solutions to eradicate the issue. They bring into force people from various work fields in order to reach their desired goal. A workforce that includes people from various fields enables a foundation to outstretch the impalpable extremes of a problem. Moreover, the foundation enables to the proper allocation of donated funds, which otherwise lose track sometimes. The term ‘foundation’ can be used in a wider sense as well because there are few organizations that use the word ‘foundation’ but are not involved in any public grant-making. They do not possess any shareholders but work through the formation of a board, an assembly and electing members through voting. The functioning also differs according to the countries they establish themselves in. Whatever may be the difference all the foundations frame certain missions in order to reach their vision. A vision can only be created, but its accomplishment depends on the ‘step-by-step processes or initial missions completed with planning. Every foundation pictures itself in a particular manner in the future but fails to plan the mission in an effective way. These problems mostly occur due to inconsistency, lack of proper management, lack of proper understanding of the mission, miscommunication and many more. Every mission must be organized in a fruitful manner to uphold the position or existence of a foundation. Since most the organization works with the hope of creating a better future for individuals and groups, the most vital contribution is done through the foundation that focuses on healthcare development and health promotion. Health is one of the factors for a country’s growth and working on it helps in the development of communities. They deal with death rate, and life expectancy, and focus on personal growth. These foundations pick up underprivileged and vulnerable people and serve them free medicines or health check-ups. They have their own programs which distribute free vaccinations, trains volunteer, research and waive charges in the operations, raise awareness etc. Due to poverty, many sections of society have to face deaths and disastrous diseases. The women due to a lack of proper awareness in the family, face unwanted pregnancies and cannot face the consequences. This leads to the death of the child or the mother in most cases. The most vulnerable are the rural communities. Due to overlooking of minute disorders, the later consequences add to larger significance. Thus, the foundations mostly help people come out of these extreme situations, also empowering them. “Education empowers an individual to earn their livelihood and also makes an individual aware of the issues directly or indirectly affecting them.” Most of the famous foundations work on spreading education after healthcare. Education is another basic right and only a learned and educated person can play a decisive role in society. But unfortunately, there are people who are still devoid of proper formal education due to various factors like economic, cultural, religious, and social. The children in the rural areas, the girl child and women do not get the deserved access to the resources of education. Thus, the foundation must make a vision to work as education for creating a better life and enhancing social transformation. The question of women’s suffering comes in every aspect of conventional issues. Not only in terms of health, but women also has to face suppression in terms of their basic rights, such as education. Foundation even works on the development of women in a broader sense which includes, health, education, domestic violence, empowerment, free training in skill development, and self-help groups among others. They use modern technologies and values and employ best practices. Women are not born with gender roles. Their empowerment comes with educating the girl child, which will allow them to venture out of their households and create a new vision for society. The focus on social or gender relations is very important while working on women. The decision of labor and the way people internalize things need to change and awareness basics by the foundation can help in it. The third most significant issue nowadays lies with the improper placement of old people in the family. The old people are the ones, vulnerable to beating and un-appropriate behavior from family members. They are thrown out of their household and have no place to stay. The old age homes lack funding most of the time and fail to serve the enrollers. Foundations that work for old people are most significant in their case. They work to uplift the socio-economic status of abandoned and neglected senior citizens. Older adults deserve the respect and composed life, peace, and good behavior. But in fine families, they have to face complications concerning changes in the environment and life-related challenges. Moreover, the difference in family matters mostly leads them to helpless situations. With the deterioration of their physical and mental health, they require support and care, which the NGOs and few foundations work upon. The right of the LGBTQ community which is still considered taboo by society needs special attention. The few LGBT foundations deliver advice, support and information services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans communities. They organize campaigns to make these communities feel heard and represented. There are often slogans on equality passes, but very few people work on activating these rights among the subjects. Proper grounds need to be laid for the working of these people. Children are the pillars of society and their development goes parallel with the development of a nation. What a child learns at home, in schools, and from his immediate environment molds his behavior, way of thinking and manners. These once incurred by the child cannot be changed at later stages. In order to make a change, all the basic components cannot be taken into consideration. Most children die because of malnutrition, some lose their parents and have no one to look after them, and some children get addicted to drugs. These all aspects come under the growth and nurturing of a child. There are big foundations that address these issues together or separately up to their strength and resources available. The welfare of society comes with the proper allocation of money and ideas. The reason that foundations have with them enables them to work for themselves as well as society. The small missions accommodate people from all sections of society and work for the growth of humans, making them capable of creating a better life. Social welfare has taken institutionalized forms like charity, family planning, and social security. The foundations are such an institution that serves the purposes of social welfare. NGOs serve the same purpose but differ from foundations. Though their objectives differ from one another, all of them serve better causes of human growth.
