What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a writer?
"I write to discover what I know."
--Flannery O'Connor
Writing involves crafting
one’s own wisdom and creating a piece of art that involves creative
imagination and expression. Writing as an activity allows the writers to activate
their thoughts, awaken their ideas and bring the words on the pages alive by
molding imagination, reality, and literary style. Writing differs on various
levels depending on the target audience. The most important quality of a writer
rests in his ability to plan and execute the plot without getting swayed by
distractions in the middle of the process.
In the ability to
construct a planned structure with organized paragraphs, lies my greatest
strength. Writing as a passion brings the best ideas to me and I prefer
using suitable words to give justice to the meaning I want to portray to my
readers. It takes time, but I am able to put up the suitable word at the end. As
a writer, it is important for me to write pieces of work that catch the attention
of my readers and they are able to hold their interest in my work. Being a
student of literature, I am exposed to various authors and each one of them
possesses unique literary styles. I write since I was a child and my
specialization in literature helped me in my gradual progress in the field of
writing. I always pay attention on proofreading my sentences before moving to
the next. I highly focus on intermediate levels in writing; not too simple and
not that complex. Since research, dissertations, and literature review have been
a part of my graduation life, I try to bring out critical insights to a
particular topic while writing.
Self-introspection
leads individuals to a certain level of understanding about themselves. Reflecting
on my writer-self I came across specific errors in my writing skills. The first
flaw I would like to highlight is that I am a perfectionist and sometimes in
the process of creating a perfect combination of words I tend to forget the
important points because words don’t come to my mind easily. To overcome this
flaw I have started jotting down points in a rough sheet before writing.
Moreover, my thinking capacity gets slower than usual when I am in a
chaotic environment. A balance between the mind and the environment is a must. I don’t have many issues with sentences that bring my
errors on track.
